So awesome to see you both again, sometimes 10 minutes friendships become friends that stay in touch, i met this gorgeous couple out on one of my adventure trips, at the end of my day at the pub, still in salty boots and cider in my hand, Great conversation, sharing locations. The next day we were out shooting together! I do love meeting random people along the way, you just never know who you might meet, so glad you guys have moved closer to Melbourne and made a special trip for your portrait shoot.
I have always believed that when you look at life in reverse all is as it should be, while mostly I like to travel back to fond memories and moments, sometimes you need to look back as a reminder never to make the same mistake again, Moments deep within can be blinded by a false trust, i was so busy admiring through the lens that I didn’t see the water creep up behind me, left standing on a meter long island, i was drawn in, peaceful in a trance and forgot about the tide coming in, with a smile on my face I walked through the water not even feeling the cold. Thank God for reality checks.

Grantville on 3 different days at 3 different times! I love stopping by if i am down that way, although I do check my tides, it’s always great to see how its presenting itself on the day, wild water, sand that I sink in, yep i got stuck, or tide just at the right height, calm waters and a beautiful sunset.
When everything aligns perfectly, I don’t normally photograph people homes, but I couldn’t resist when I turned to see the light shinning on it, just as well! the tide had come in so fast that there was not much to stand on, oh well boots were wet anyway, on the upside I have good friends that live near by and I have sent her a copy to show the owner, only right I send them a copy if they want it. 3rd time lucky in the last two months to get the shots I was after, at just the right water level, I was there the day before and the tide was all the way out.
What a beautiful coast line we have right here in Victoria, Phillip Island, this was the highlight for me, i would have loved spending a bit more time here, just spectacular. A 4 hour cruise run by Wildlife coast cruises, We had Dale from Photo Ranges give a a talk, tips and tricks for photography. You can find them on Facebook and Istagram for all their events etc. This trip was organised by Peter Fogarty from Melbourne Photography excursions, what a great job he did, kept us up to date as the day was approaching, a private chat group with lots of info and laughs, I don’t normally do many large group outings, I’ll either go alone or very select small group. But as I said, this was very well organised. We didn’t see any Whales, although there were plenty of playful Dolphins, and seals, even though it rained and even hailed, it didn’t put a damper on the day, rough seas, that just made it adventurous!!! I was of course standing in the wrong spot as it started to hail, hanging on for dear life, overtime the boat went to the left and truck loads of water just poured onto me, I was not game to move at that point, i had tried to go across and one point when i was told not to run, ummmm lost my footed and went jogging across. It was a lot of fun indeed. It’s always great to get out in Victoria and enjoy what my own country has to offer.
Never gets old watching these beautiful seals, all part of the cruise around Phillip Island, they didn’t seemed phased by the high swells and crashing waves. Love the wildlife in Australia. You can purchase this image here.
Out on a whale watching cruise yesterday off Phillip Island, unfortunately we didn’t spot any, lots of playful dolphins and seals, There were lots of swells, rain and even hail stones at one point which made it all the more exciting. I love the way the waves dance and create quick moments of natures art. Victoria, Australia. You can purchase this image here.
Every now and then I stop and think how many I have met in my lifetime…..I really have no idea and while I remember plenty but not all, I have never met anyone so selfless in my life until this brief encounter, Paro, Bhutan. I asked my guide to stop and ask him what he was doing. He had traveled around 14km already and he’s stop was at Tigers Nest or there about, when I asked why, he was doing this for his community, a prayer to protect them, to bless them. This was no ordinary display of love of his country, I mean I have seen people praying etc but this did not look easy at all and was something else, what an incredible act, the most beautiful selfless act I have ever been privileged to witness. It really is a country like no other. And I was puffed at a few hours of walking up, half way to Tigers Nest!
What can one say about Bhutan, it’s peaceful, quiet, stunning landscape, the light breeze and the sound of prayer flags, I laid down as close to the edge, listen to the sounds and watched those flags, dance in the wind. No other sounds, it was magical. You can purchase this image here and many others.
Well do you?
I have been wanting to do this Millionaire walk for nearly 2 years now, I had a look on google maps and although i was quite confident i figured it out, i emailed Mornington Peninsula Website just to be sure, they were great and called me the next day, so I got to Lentell Avenue, Sorrento, there were already two togs up on the wall, saying hey you missed the sunrise and assuring me it was safe enough to get up along the wall, well my aim today was to photograph the piers, tick! So i couldn’t figure out where the walk started from so i got in the car and went to Point King road and from there off i went, the walk is about 1.5km return, fairly easy, scary dog half way, so if you go all the way you will end up at Lentell Avenue, it looks like a private gate. I didn’t photograph any of the houses as it was their back yard. Absolutely stunning! I did have a few favourites. So do I want to be a millionaire? mmmm. I would sure love a view like that, although I’m a simple creature, less is more, minimalist and don’t fancy possessions owning me, but hey you never know., something might change my mind, image all the good I could do. I read an short article last week where a bloke decided what he was going to live on $$$$ for the rest of his life regardless of inflation and the rest he gave away, imagine a world like that! That definitely sounds like a great plan, oh one day, a nice little shack by the beach, with lots of light and studio space and a view of the ocean. Really was a peaceful day, i even forgot I was cold. I only had a few hours then a great day with friends, food and a good laugh, what else is there?!
